Hope-Change Part 2

Thanks to all you liberal do-gooders out there, we have a new black President. Well, same black President as before, only now he's in Mr. No-Fucking-Around-Anymore-Mode. Hence new. So I've been told. As someone who did not listen to the speech nor attend the lackluster (well, compared with 4 years ago) event a few miles north of my adobe, I can safely say based on thirdhand information that Mr.Hope/Change/Forward/Progress is gonna make some serious indents this term. At least that's what someone I know said. How the fuck should I know, I was busy running 12 miles while Beyonce was lipsynching.

And I ain't just talking the small stuff either.

Climate change, immigration, gun control, you name it. He may even shed some military spending and correct the spending problem!!!!

All in a days work for this fella.

Oh, and also he likes the gays now. Very different than 4 years ago, when he was 'evolving' (white guy talking about black guy evolving is verrrry dangerous territory so let's just leave it at that).

Apparently, his personal check-writers had donor fatigue, so a slew of corporations helped foot the bill for the inauguration this time around. Not like they're looking for any favors down the road or anything. Not with Mr. Not-Fucking-Around-Anymore in office. No sir. He's impenetrable. I doubt he'll even negotiate. No more half-assed compromises. Those days are over.

We're talking a blanket repeal of DOMA. More women in cabinet positions than in the laundry room.

Ehhhhhhhhh, I doubt it. 4 more years of the same shit is what you'll get. I'm not cynical, y'all just gullible! Hope in one hand, change in the other - see which one fills up first. To his loyal subjugates, keep your ebullient optimism and crossing your fingers. As long as he keeps giving you crumbs, you'd lick the floor.

Hail the leader.

Wow, you do get some very weird responses. I guess a lot of crazies are out there reading blogs. I am hoping that Obama has learned a new trick or two in all this time to get more things that the people want accomplished. If the Republicans meet him halfway this time, maybe we will see some intelligent moves to help our country. I am hopeful.

Considering the alternatives, Obama and the Dems are our default "leaders". All voters surely understand the system is corrupt and corporations run the systems that run the governments. There is not much we can hope for except incremental change and decades of activism might improve things for our children. I don't feel the "optimism kool-aid" this time around, just a grudging acceptance that Obama is an improvement and a shift towards possible recognition at least that we are not the invincible mighty nation Bush promulgated.
